Description
One of the building blocks of any society are the values that are passed down from generation to generation. A value system begins to take shape from the moment a toddler becomes aware of his or her own self, and the development of this system continues throughout an individual's life. The present diagnostic tool meets the methodological requirements for this type of tool, and the method itself has been developed on a sufficient theoretical basis. The method contains 15 statements describing one of three groups of values - external, internal and higher. For each statement, the adolescent chooses one of four responses (strongly agree, agree, strongly disagree and disagree). The time required to complete this scale is approximately 10 minutes. The method can be administered on its own or as part of a test battery, can be administered in groups or individually, and can be used, for example, in counselling but also in research projects focusing on values. The scale has been standardised on several thousand Czech and Slovak adolescents. The method can be used with 11- to 19-year-old girls and boys, for whom population norms have been developed to convert the raw scores obtained in the three groups of values into stanines. The complete diagnostic set includes a Czechoslovak test manual with standards for Czech and Slovak girls and boys, an English test manual, questionnaire evaluation templates in Czech, Slovak and English, 200 pieces of the questionnaire in Czech, 200 pieces in Slovak and 50 pieces in English, all packed in a plastic case.
