Description
The Anthology of Shoah-Themed Texts for the First Grade of Elementary Schools aims to point out the possibilities of implementing this line of the Second World War into various subjects in the first grade of Czech elementary schools. At this level of education, there should be a certain degree of internalization of the events of the Shoah, in terms of feelings, atmosphere or everyday life behind the walls of the Terezín ghetto. To fulfil this potential to the greatest possible extent through this book, the style of presentation of defined events through the story of a specific individual was chosen. The visual and literary testimonies of the circle of interned children and teenagers who grouped around Valtr Eisinger and who secretly published the magazine Vedem were selected. The anthology is composed of several parts. The first of them is devoted to the presentation of the Terezín ghetto and its parts. The following is a section dedicated to Republica Škid, a collective that was formed in department L 414 around the teacher Valtr Eisinger. The artistic monuments included in this publication are of two types: artistic and literary. The poems of some of the boys who contributed to the magazine Vedem were chosen. The reason for this selection is mainly their authenticity, occasional transcendentalism and a view of the world through children´s eyes. Poems and prose texts are also equipped with questions and tasks, which are given again in the intentions of the findings of the contemporary didactics of literary education.
