The book comprehensively treats the phenomenon of Renaissance and Mannerist stucco in Bohemia and Moravia. The monuments that can be included in this group were created between 1150 and 1620. A detailed topographical research has mapped the relevant stuccoes preserved in the territory of the present-day Czech Republic, given the legislative possibilities. However, the individual articles/chapters are not bound by this territory; Central European and Italian analogies are outlined both in the introductory synthesizing section and in the entries of the selection catalogue, which are conceived as autonomous articles presenting the most important sites. The research was interdisciplinary, with the collaboration of art historians, restorers and technologists. The findings are presented collectively in the individual texts. The extensive publication has a strong base in the field of conservation and will be appreciated by the general public (including foreign scholars) due to its extensive pictorial appendix and exclusive graphic design.
