Firearms are examples of the highest craftsmanship and technological skills of the time in which they were created. Although their main purpose is to hunt or to fight, they cannot be ignored - they are part of our history. The East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice and the Regional Museum in Olomouc boast extensive collections of firearms, which will be on display at exhibitions in Olomouc and then in Pardubice during the years 2024 to 2026. The curators have selected 100 weapons that have either “written history” or are unique in some way, and they introduce them to readers with short narratives about their origins, owners, journey to the museum collections and other characteristics of these collection items. The selection of weapons for the book also charts the evolution of firearms. The publication will present photographs of the finest details of the technical design and artistic rendering of firearms over the past nearly 400 years.
